Sunday I attended one of my favorite networking events in Indy. I went to The Bosses Brunch! The Brunch allows women from Indiana to network with other bosses. You also get to hear some powerful stories from women who started off with a vision and our dominating their fields. We had a panel of 4 women and each person had their own story on how they turned their vision into their full time job! Listening to their stories was very inspirational because it shows that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.
Charmaine was the first speaker on the panel. Her story was very inspirational because she was able to quit her job at Chase Bank at the age of 22. She took her tax money and invested in herself and her brand. She is now an owner of Blush in a box (38th and Arlington) and she is also a Realtor. Lets not forget that she is the woman who started "The Bosses Brunch" event. She is truly a woman that knows what she wants and it going after everything.
The next speaker was Angel Hicks. She is the owner of 28 Boutique located on 4605 Evanston Ave. Her story was encouraging because she talked about how she started off with a polka dot suitcase full of clothes and now she has her own Boutique. Another thing that really stood out to me is that she did it all without any loans. She is a Hustler and she didn't allow anything or anyone to discourage her.
Then there was Britney Tipton! She started off as a cosmologist then moved into the lash business. After learning how to do lashes she would pay her friends to practice on them in order to perfect her craft. She is now going into her 2nd year of business and she is doing an exceptional job. Let’s not forget that she has a t-shirt line called Business owHER so please check her out. Britney said one thing that stood out to me and that was Fear will keep your feet still, so move your feet. When she said that I immediately wrote that quote down because fear does stop you from achieving your goals but you have to fight through that in order to succeed.
Last but certainly not least there was Shawnya Woods. Shawnya is the owner of the Makeup Room and 220 Cosmetics. Her story was influential because I remember her from attending the Bosses Brunch Dec 2014, she is now doing everything she envisioned. Against all odds she was still able to go to school, attend 2 makeup trainings, and build her brand. She went from getting let go from the post office office to becoming a Business owner. Shawnya is her own boss and that’s what it’s all about.
Overall the Bosses Brunch was a great way for me to network and for me to meet women that are goal-orientated. Hearing everyone's stories and talking to everyone inspired me to keep doing what I need in order to reach my goals. I love each and every one of you and I cant wait to see all of the women I met dominate in their fields.
